Jane Clarke, Director of business psychologists Nicholson McBride advises that you "Start by assessing the lie of the land.  Was it personal, was it something they were doing or was it something the team was doing?  Could it rub off on you, or can you help to put things right?"

Jane goes on to suggest that unless your former boss was sacked for a terrible offence you should keep in touch:  "They may have been an innocent victim and it is worth maintaining the relationship."
